How much does it cost to stay at Hilltop Convalescent Center?

Our semi-private room includes room and board, three meals per day, recreation, and nursing care. Fee does not include medications, rehabilitation, oxygen, hair care (other than shampooing during shower), personal laundry, and other items like disposable undergarments.

However, many of our residents come to stay with us after hospitalization. Medicare is available as payment for eligible recipients after three consecutive qualifying midnight stays in a hospital, and when skilled nursing care is medically necessary.

Medicare and Medicaid are accepted, as well as most insurance.  Many residents have private insurance that will take care of the co-payment.

Medicaid (Illinois Public Aid) will pay all costs incurred while staying at a nursing facility if the resident qualifies financially. Sometimes patients will use their Medicare benefits first, and then become private pay or Medicaid residents.

Payor source has no effect on care; in fact, most of our staff do not know who is on Medicaid, Medicare, insurance, or private pay.

For prices, please contact Carrie Hooten, Marketing/Admissions Coordinator at 217-345-7066

What can I bring to Hilltop Convalescent Center?

The rooms at Hilltop Convalescent Center are nicely furnished with closet and shelf space available for every resident.

Linens are furnished, however a resident may also bring their own bedspreads.  The only requirement is that the bedspread must be fire-rated.  Please speak with a facility representative before bringing extra furniture.

What will I do all day?

Hilltop offers a variety of planned and spontaneous activities throughout the day.  Our activities change often in response to requests from residents and new talents brought forward by volunteers and/or community groups.

Bingo is a classic favorite.  We also offer programs involving exercise, music and crafts.  Residents can also take advantage of organized groups for discussion, support and friendship.

A family night is hosted once a month.  Most of our staff and directors attend family nights, so it’s a great time to join in and get to know the people who make Hilltop a terrific home away from home.

When can my family visit?

Families may visit our facility anytime. However, to respect the privacy of our patients, our official visiting hours are encouraged from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Residents may use the phone to make or receive calls anytime.

A private area is available for family dining, and families may eat meals at Hilltop Convalescent Center for a nominal charge (24-hour notice is requested.)

Do you offer respite care?

Yes, Hilltop Convalescent Center offers temporary respite care for individuals who have special healthcare or supervision needs while their caregivers must be away.

Hilltop Convalescent Center :: Hilltop resident enjoying a visit
I like Hilltop because they love me; they really show that they love me. I came to Hilltop on my own because I knew I couldn't care for myself at home any longer. I would make the same decision again and again.
